14th Post

Mapamahiin ako...

Akala ko nga yung 13th post eh last na dito sa Chartotem's Blog. Kaya break natin yun alat na trese pamahiin by posting this one.

Wow! Lapit na mag-1 month na wala ako post dito. Busy lang konti, pero syempre hanap ng time para sa blog na ito kaya... Ano ba nangyaring kakaiba noong huling 28 na araw???

Oct 28~29
- 1st Camp in Club Manila East in Antipolo. Nothing new in the discussions since I'm included in most of the planning sessions of the team. Had one semi-memorable act from one of the bosses but hey that's off-topic for Chartotem's Blog
- Got good DOTA wireless sessions with 3nigm4, jollibee (jameson) and junjun in our very own room
- Got apprehended by Kotong Cops in V. Mapa. Lost one ube in the process :(

Nov 1
- My 1st All Saint Day's visit to Manila South Cemetery. The experience was unique: Ober the bakod!!!
- Manong guard manning the parking was a rich kid that day. 50 bucks per car. Wow! Kahit ako mag-volunteer ng shift na yun kahit walang OT!!!

Nov 4
-Whoopnet Anniversary. Master Feeder Bong joined their Anniv Dota Tourney. 5 Teams: Housemates, Master Feeder Bong, TAM of Dota, Hotchix and Jips. 3nigm4, pututoy, gnob, hehehe (athan) and makonat formed MFB and won 1st runner up. AV guys combined the price money and celebrated in Dampa sa Libis. At last, my 1st dota tourney na nakapasok sa Finals!!!

Nov 13~14
- Training at Cafe Benisimo (mispelled it intentionally). Impressive! Why? Isa na namang off-topic sa blog na ito :)

Nov 18
- I accompanied Raven for skin allergy check-up. Toink! Its not skin allergy! German measles daw! Too late for isolation (for me). The doctor said incubation period for the virus is around 2 weeks (so possible_10days to go for me?). I hope she get well soon! Take a good rest Raven! I love you :*
- Broxigar bday in Titan. He is my new DL in emyu

last week activities

Last Saturday, TAM of DOTA won over the Housemates.GEN. Dodo-minating didn't show up, so Feeders won 3rd place by default. By default... what a waste... what a bunch of l.s.rs, bwahahaha!

Sunday, we went out to Centerpoint to treat Potpot some french fries! "Jollibee, Bida ang saya!"

Wednesday, a breakthrough day (sorry topic is not for Chartotem's Blog). Lets just say it was a first time in the recent years (like Neil Armstrong's "... one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind"). Then Raven and I had dinner in Rockwell. Before the day ends, we bought Kami nAPO muna double CD (might be useful for my 2nd CD Review).

Friday, since the tourney is over, we're back to Friday DotA nights. Blitz and Jeff joined us in some opening salvo. Pututoy, 3nigm4, cb, brexail, dood, skeeter, shando-arn, jumo and the rest of the guys are the mainstays up to 11PM. Good game!

Saturday, I accompanied blackheart in Katipunan to have his PC fixed. It turns out the machine needs some reformatting since the video card is working ok. Then we had some ice cream at home. Yummy!

Sunday, I learned from Ma that power was back in Quezon province last Friday. That was a relief, things will get back to normal at last.

OK got to enjoy the remaining hours of the weekend since next weekend will be a working weekend at the CAMP.

Mel n Maye

Mel and Maye made their wedding vows today! It was a simple Christian celebration with their family, relatives, and close friends. Pa and Ma was also present as ninong and ninang. Raven and I as veil sponsors. The college barkada was there, although not complete. My inaanaks are also there, making advance recog since Christmastime is near :)

Sad Wednesday

Yesterday Master Feeder lost to Dodominating. I am willing to take bulk of the blame.

Too late na ang serpent wards ko.
Walang kwenta shackles ko.
Hindi effective voodoo ko.
Patalo forked lightning ko, minsan wala pang namamatay sa creep wave nung nag-forked ako.
Nagtry pa ako mag-trashtalk pero in the end wala. Talo na sa game talo pa sa trashtalk.
Feeder ako. Feeder. FEEEEEEDER.

Nashock yata ako. Nawala sa diskarte. Mabilis ang mga pangyayari. Wala akong masyadong nagawa.

Pero Dodominating executed their game plan well. They deserved the win. Good Game Dodo-guys!

To my teammates, elmo, cb, pututoy, adicto, 3nigm4, radars, blitz: Ayos lang yun. Sa akin kayo pa rin ang the best!!! Bawi tayo next time...

I am rooting for Housemates.GEN and TAM of Dota sa finals. Good luck guys!!!

Ultraelectromagneticjam: Delayed Review

This is my first CD Review here at Chartotem's Blog. Quite delayed since the album was out around 9~10 months already. Bakit ba? Walang pakialamanan, blog ko to kaya kahit delayed ok lang, hehehe!

Seriously, tagal ko ng plan ito dahil fan rin naman ako ng Eraserheads. Tapos last month nag-materialize na ang blog na ito, kaya po ang mga wishlist ko eh tinutupad ko. Eto na sya:

6 Cycle Mind - Alapaap. A fresh opening track. Good setup tempo.
Paolo Santos - Magasin. Magasin was one of my favorite Eheads song. I remember singing it during my college days, especially during Micro's Bidding at Fort S. Paolo Santos remake was cool. I'm not an avid Paolo Santos Fan (Raven is :) ) I appreciated his remake.
Imago - Spoliarium. Dati nde ko alam ang tono nitong kanta na ito, ang alam ko lang me kanta ang eheads na Spolarium. OK naman ang remake ng Imago at least ngayon alam ko na ito pala yun.
Barbie Almabis - Overdrive. The usual Barbie tone, parang nakakatamad pakinggan. Mas gusto ko yata yung mga original song ni Barbie o di kaya ibang kanta na lang ang remake nila.
South Border - With A Smile. Walang kabuhay-buhay! Parang out of place itong south border dito. Isa ito sa mga tracks na pag play ko sa CD itong eheadsjam, fast-forward ko sya sa next track.
SugarFree - Tikman. Another fresh remake. Me mga naririnig akong bagong kanta nitong Sugarfree at OK naman pala sila. Good drums.
Kitchie Nadal - Ligaya. Hindi bagay ke Kitchie yung kanta. "Ilang ahit pa ba ang aahitin" halatang kahit si Kitchie eh natawa nung sya kumanta nito. I'm a Kitchie fan but I am not happy with the song-artist combo.
Isha - Torpedo. Another mismatched song-artist combo. Saka sino ulet ito Isha? Sorry nawala yata ako sa sirkulasyon pero talagang ito yata ang first time na narinig ko itong banda na to. Sorry thumbs down.
FrancisM - Superproxy 2K6. Good thing after Kitchie and Isha, bumawi naman ang Master Rapper. Cool talaga FrancisM, kahit matanda na sya, ok pa rin mag-rap, nde corny. OK rin daw video nito sabi ni Ujinn, pero nde ko pa naabutan sa TV, ala ako TV-life lately e. Natuwa rin ako sa mods ng lyrics from "i-dial lang ang telepono" to "isaksak lang ang modem nyo". Cool!
Orange and Lemons - Huwag Kang Matakot. One of my top tracks dito sa Album. Akala ko ang Orange and Lemons ay pang PBB lang, pero nabago ang tingin ko sa kanila dahil dito sa remake na ito. Ang sarap i-mix nitong track na ito sa "plagiarized" daw na PBB theme nila (Pinoy Ako).
Spongecola - Pare Ko. WTF! @#$@#%!!! Isa pa naman sa paborito kong kanta ng Eheads and Pare ko, pero parang binaboy naman ng Spongecola yung kanta. Ang pangit ng remake nila, parang me sipon pa lead vocals nila. Kaya boycott sa akin itong band na to.
M.Y.M.P. - Huwag Mo Nang Itanong. Another mismatched song-artist combo. Gusto ko MYMP pero parang boring pagkaka-remake nila dito.
Cueshe - Hard To Believe. Another @#$@#%!!! Saka hindi naman sikat itong kanta na ito, bakit kaya ni-remake ng Cueshe? Sana iba na lang kanta, saka sana ibang band na lang... hehehe!
Radioactive Sago Project - Alcohol. THE BEST!!! Ito yung remake na pagkatapos mo mapakinggan eh makakalimutan mo kung paano kinanta ng Eheads yung orig. Hindi masyadong sikat ang Alcohol dati pero etong remake ang dahilan kung bakit nasa Top 10 list ko na yung alcohol sa all-time favorite eheads song ko. Ang lulutong magbitaw ng lyrics! Cool talaga Radioactive Sago!!!
Brownman Revival - Maling Akala. One of the early revival songs na lumabas way ahead of the compilation album. Maganda ang diskarte ng band dito sa song. OK rin yung video. Maganda rin kase me participation ni Ely sa dulo. Thumbs up!
Rico J. Puno - Ang Huling El Bimbo. One of the surprise remake. Paborito yata ng Eheads si Rico J kaya sya ang ni-request na mag-remake ng isang song(?). Nakaaliw din kase classic Rico J pero Eheads lyrics. Another thumbs up!
Para Sa Masa. Various artist ito. at good ending track song. Thumbs up!

Overall: 4/5.
Good CD. Lalo na para sa mga nasa "age-bracket" ko. OPM ito kaya dapat tangkilikin. Don't buy PIRATED CD!!!
Marami pang kanta Eheads na wala sa compilation album na to. Ewan ko kung anong nangyari. But here's my personal wish list:

DOTA Weekend: MF vs. AW

Today. 12:45 PM. Pagdating ko sa Station 168, 3 pa lang kame sa Team. Ako si pututoy at si cb. Tinawagan ko na si 3nigm4 at sabi nya si adicto daw ay kakagising pa lang at on the way na. Si elmo daw ay hindi nya makontak. 1PM ang game kaya papunta na rin daw si 3nigm4 sa 168.

Dumating na rin si adicto sa 168. Halatang bagong gising, hehehe. Dumating na rin si 3nigm4. Tinawag ko sila para makapagmeeting muna kame bago ang game. Kinuwento ko ang mga napanood kong game replays ng AW. "2-1 ang AW, 1 win 1 loss sila using Scourge, 1 win sila sa Sentinels, me combo sila sa sentinels, venge-swap, luna-moon beam tapos GB na yung na-swap. Pag scourge sila individual game nila pero may malalakas lalo na yung int nila (Lich at Zeus), so my advice is Sentinels tayo pag panalo sa toss coin". Wala pa talaga si elmo baka nag-oktoberfest sa eastwood kagabi :). Wala ang "director" namin, si elmo kase magaling mag-direct at mag-lead, pero kompleto naman kase nandito si cb, ang monster-killer ng team, present din pututoy at adicto, mga de-kalibreng DOTA players ito. Kami ni 3nigm4 ang weakest link ng MF.

Nakipag-toss coin na si pututoy, tails. Sentinels daw sila. OK lang scourge. Ang lineup namin:

Kasama ko sa mid lane si krobelus. Solo si rhasta sa mid, pero napansin ko na sya yung top killer ng AW. So hindi kame naging mapusok ni krob sa mid. Cheap shots lang ako at last hit, tapos ganun din si Krob. Masakit pala talaga sa kalaban ang Forked Lightning ni Rhasta. Favorite ko yun pag Rhasta ako, at mapapauwi mo pala talaga kalaban :), mabuti na lang at me baon ako 2 flasks. Magaling si Rhasta, pero mas magaling yata mga teammates ko dahil early game e kami ang naka-first blood tapos nasundan pa itong ng 2~3 kills. Maganda rin ang combo namin ni krobellus nung me ulti na ako: Stun ni SK, silence ni krob tapos epicenter ko = dead rhasta :)

Pero me twist sa early game. Nagpush sa mid ang AW at nde namin nadefend ang 2 towers sa mid lane. Medyo nakakakaba lang, pero me isang push sila sa mid tapos napatay namin ang tatlo o apat sa kanila tapos nagcounter push kame at na-equalize namin yung lost towers sa mid. At the same time ang lakas mag-push si Razor. Pero syempre me risk yun: GB. Naging feeder nga si cb ng konti, pero oks lang naka-radiance naman sya tapos nakakapag-push kame sa ibang lane.

Mid game napatunayan na naman ang team chemistry namin. Alaga sa Meka at syempre sama-sama sa lane. Ang hirap nga lang ma-ngreeps kase pagka-burrow ko at caustic finale, mag spam naman ng carrion wave si krob, kawawa si Tidehunter walang natirang gold sa kanya :). Malakas yung baby bear si Syllabear, mabuti na lang at naalala ni cb na gamitin ang mga euls namin. Bilib din ako ke krob, ang galing mag-moo-moo tapos naka-triple kill pa yata :)

End game, medyo sunulit yata namin yung game kase mga 77 minutes natapos. Top hero pa rin si cb, 2nd si 3nigm4, 3rd yata adicto, 5th yata ako. Si syllabear lang nakapasok na AW sa top 5 hero as 3rd.

Overall ok naman ang game, exciting sya saka nde ako masyadong feeder.

Milenyo at Maxi

Kwento ko lang ang weekend ko. Kakaibang weekend ito dahil sa dalawang bagay...

Una si Milenyo. Sya ang bagyong sumalanta sa Luzon nung Huwebes (Sept. 28, 2006). Pareho ang ruta nya nung bagyong Rosing nung 90's. Walang kuryente sa amin simula huwebes ng tanghali hanggang sabado ng gabi. Sa Quezon province mga dalawang linggo pa daw bago maibalik ang kuryente. Sa ilang parte ng Laguna, wala pa rin yatang kuryente. Walang pasok ng Huwebes dahil na-predict ng maayos ng PAGASA ang impact ng bagyo. Alam kong malaki ang pinsala ng bagyo base sa mga naririnig ko sa radyo, pero nagulat ako nung pumasok ako ng opisina ng biyernes, ang dami talagang natumbang puno, poste ng Meralco, at mga billboards. At nung magkaroon na ng kuryente ay mas nakakagimbal ang mga mapapanood mo sa TV. Nagpapasalamat ako ke Lord ako dahil nasa mabuting kalagayang ang aming pamilya, kamag-anak at mga kaibigan.

Pangalawang dahilan kung bakit kakaiba ang weekend ko: si Maxi. Dahil nga brown-out nung sabado ng gabi, naisipan na lang namin na mag-mall sa MOA (sosi ba? yan daw ang tawag sa SM. Mall of Asia). At ang isa sa mga pambihirang pangyayari ey mapanood mo ako ng tagalog Film. Hindi naman sa pagiging coño o kaya pagiging hindi makabayan, pero harapin natin ang katotohanan na andaming basurang pelikulang pinoy na ipinapalabas. Pero kakaiba itong napanood namin: Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros. Oo nanood ako nun. Indi film daw ito sabi ni Raven. Kahit na ilang beses akong napa-mura (oo malutong na p.i. at mga shortcut nito) OK naman ang review ko sa movie na to. Madalas nga ay itong mga ganitong independent films yung me kwenta. Hindi ko na muna ikukuwento kung me mga 'bias' ako on the subject nung movie, ang mahalaga ay nag-enjoy naman ako (sulit bayad ika nga) at pag-uwi namin ay... may ilaw na.

DOTA Weekend: MF vs. FT

September 23, 2006. Naka-sick leave si cb at pututoy. Si blitz naman ay nasa New York, umatend ng InterOp. Kaya si radars and kumompleto sa lineup namin.

Ang Master Feeders (MF) ay may 2-1 win-loss card. Talo kase kame ng Housemates.GEN pero bumawi naman kame versus Konoha Leavers at Master Betas nung isang lingo. Ang Flaming Throne (FT) naman ay wala pang panalo. Tinapos ng Housemates ang laban nila with Flaming Throne last week in 26 minutes (mahangin talaga ang Housemates :-D j.k.).

Panalo sa toss-coin ang Flaming Throne kaya sila ang pipili kung Sentinels or Scourge ang gagamitin nila. Nung una sabi nila mag Sentinel daw sila pero nung may AV na nag-comment na "Ano (comment directed to MF Team) Scourge na naman kayo???” nagbago ang isip ng Flaming Throne kaya Scourge na lang daw sila.

Lineup ng Flaming Throne: (nde ko kabisado, pero pag nakuha ko na replays ke Orobos, edit ko itong blog.)

Early game: mid ako (Rhasta) kasama si Silencer. After some minutes na-First blood si Jakiro, at nasundan pa ito ng isang death ni Rylai :-( . Medyo mapusok kase sila Jakiro at Rylai, tapos medyo nde pa kabisado ni Radars yung teamplay ng MF since ito yung first game nya sa tournament.

Early game eh lamang sa kills ang FT. Pero humabol ang MF sa mid-game. Nung una medyo kinabahan ako kase over-confident yata yung team. Pero nung sama-sama na kaming lima sa isang lane, OK ang push namin. Ang maiwan sa FT ay malamang GB na, madalas ay ma-frostbite ni Rylai or ma-shackles ni Rhasta, then focus fire na yung ng grupo :-) .

Our mid-game push was not matched by FT. Part of the strategy of MF: hindi maging masyadong mapusok. Kase hawak naman namin ang oras saka lamang kame sa push ng towers. We made 1 final push before the 60th minute mark. Coordinated ang pagcast ng Mekansm, at natapos ang laro bago mag-isang oras.

GG. The FT guys shook hands with the MF.

3-1 na ang win-loss card ng MF. Advance yata kame sa semis. Good game guys at good luck sa mga susunod pang games...

Bakit nga ba Pooms?

I don't recall how "Pooms" became Mika's nickname. Pero cute naman di ba? Tapos naging Poomers! POOOOMMEEERS!

Ang natatandaan ko lang ay nung naglalaro pa kame ng Pokemon gameboy emulator sa PC ay pinangalan nating "Pooms" yung isang pokemon na isa sa mga unang nahuli natin (I don't exactly recall kung Pidgey/Pidgeotto yun or Spearow yun, basta sure ako na ibon yun). Don't worry we named charmander as Baroye. At alam ko na meron din nakapangalan na Pokemon para kay Yamskee at Ujinn.

I also recall that when you were still attending nursery school back here in Sta. Mesa, you were chosen as Miss Spain during one of the United Nation's day. Your dialog goes like "... Viva España!" and we will jokingly alter it to "Viva España, Tayuman, Lardizabal!!!" har-har-har!

How I really miss you birthday girl Pooms!!! Stay sweet and makulit ha! Hope makauwi ulet kayo Pinas in the near future. Or makapunta kame dyan (with tita Maui of course) sa Glasgow!

Yesterday, I deleted the poweroverwhelming yahoogroups I created last year. 14 months. 25 members. Reason for deletion with yahoogroups: inactive group. No regrets. I'm happy with my decision.

Chartotem Blog History

When it did officially started?
- Registered to blogger.com on September 11, 2006. Want to make the registration day memorable, so 9/11.
Why Blog?
-Was influenced by my mascian batchmates. Will post their blog links here in the future
-Finished a cool book recently and the author sort of encouraged me to write something, hence Chartotem's Blog materialized
Why Chartotem?
-Pronounced as chahr-toh-tuhm
-Derived it from Charmander, Pokemon (#004), and totem from Blizzard's Warcraft game
-Previously it was just a nickname used in Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne skirmishes and multiplayer games (e.g. DOTA), but later on I decided that is was a "Hot" name for a blog
-By definition: char means to burn, to scorch. It is definitely related to fire. Totem means an object or an animate being, assumed as the emblem of a clan. It watches over, assists and guides the clan.
So maybe this blog will discuss "hot topics" on my mind, as well as guide and assist me (and the readers as well) in the future
But for now I will settle that Chartotem’s Blog will be my some sort of diary, will host my personal thoughts, and just be my Chartotem’s Blog.
