Happy Golden Anniversary Papa and Mama!

My Papa and Mama celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last December 30! The preps was challenging but I am very happy we all pulled it off together :)

This is a placeholder for a future post discussing the Golden Anniversary in more detail.

Miming!!!

Yesterday was a start of a new and healthy lifestyle! Because we (Raven and I) want to be more fit, we promised that we will do a fitness activity every week. And our agreed upon activity is swimming (miming in deyleespeak).

Most probably, we will swim together with Deylie, Baroye and Meyn at their place. I believe this is a good commitment just like my NO Softdrink Policy that is already 316-day old :)

Trick or Treat

Unang Trick or Treat ko itong 2012. Hindi naman kase uso itong Trick or Treat na ito nung bata pa ako. Excited ako para ke Deylie. Pero mas excited yata ako dahil nga pers taym.

Galante ang ibang bahay, me naka-pakete pang mamahaling tsokolate at kendi. Yung iba ok lang naman, ilang pirasong ng kendi bawat bata OK na. Yung iba kinapos ng supply, maagang nagsarado ng pintuan.

Nakakapagod pala pag condo at building ang setup ng Trick or Treat. Dahil nga limitado ang elevator so mag hagdan ka pababa na parang fire drill lang.

Lahat syempre ng bata naka-costume. Me ibang bata na super handa. Me ibang naman simple lang (si Deylie at ang kanyang Knight/Yoda/Monk ay simple at practical para sa amin). Meron ding nagpapintura ng Spiderman, pero natutunaw na pintura dahil sa bawis at effort pagbaba ng hagdanan.

Konti lang ang namimigay na me costume. Idol ko si Kuyang naka-angry birds pillow kaya naman nung mamimigay na kame pumayag na rin ako mag maskara ng gorilya.

Maskara ng gorilya at mickey mouse t-shirt. Bagay di ba?

Me mga natakot na bata sa akin (kaya dapat mabait ako pag namimigay). Yung malalaki na bata naman eok lang. Me mga nagtatanong pa kung ano ang aking pangala (Gorilla Glass ang itawag mo sa akin). Pero mabenta kase me mga nagpapicture na para akong artista.

Masaya ba? Masaya kase kasama ko ang sila, ang aking pamilya.

Uulitin ko ba ito sa 2013? Bahala na. Nakakapagod kase yung pagbaba sa hagdan. Baka mamigay na lang ako ng kendi pero me kasamang costume at imporved acting na.
Abangan…

Long Weekends

First Saturday was the Dentist Day. It’s been months since we last visited the dentist. I’m glad that Raven pushed for this one day. Reminder to self: Feb 2013 is the next propy day and I need to sked the impacted wiz tooth.

Raven and I also watched Bourne Legacy after the dentist appointment. The movie was ok but my honest opinion is that it did not meet my expectation. I watched the other Bourne movies and I’m so used to Matt Damon doing a lot of traveling and jumping into lots of places and giving good action packed scenes. Don't get me wrong, I’m happy and excited to see the Manila scenes but really after having the “bitin” ending, I’m not sure if all the troubles in shooting in Metro (yah including the talent fees to the mirons and to gov’t agencies for closing several busy thoroughfares) was worth it.

Yes, BL was shot in Manila but having lived in the Metro for quite some time, you will see a lot of loopholes and sometimes it hard to reconcile that. The uncut version of the tooooot is kwela though!

First Sunday is homey day. We just sleep and sleep and do usual household chores and some pc game time too.

First Monday is Char fix day and Wii Day. I went to the automechanic to have Char fixed (alternator blues). Then I fetched Deyl, Roye-b and Meyn so that we can play wii at home. Raven cooked some spag at burgers. We ordered some pizza too. Super busog.

I believe Deyl really enjoyed the Wii session. Bowling aling aling and cycling. Btw, he now as a dedicated Mii.

First Tuesday is cleanup day and preps for the back to work day. I had char washed and inquired about detailing fees, and I need to budget and plan for this soon

Second Saturday and Sunday was mostly sleep, pc game mode. Don’t know I will post my new Huntard adventure here (maybe its more fitting at Broxicow). DSL failed us on Sunday so its early bed time for us that day.

Second Monday was mall day. Raven, Deyl, Roye-b and me went to Rob Magnolia. Hammy said he went there on the first weekend of the long holidays so Raven want to have some ice cream there. We ended up in Peppers Lunch and Tom’s world. Ice cream needed to be resched because of the long queue at Magnolia ice cream bar.

Robinsons Magnolia got big potential and if it will fill up with shops soon maybe that will be a usual go-to-mall place for us.

It's been more than a decade na pala!!! You got some makeover last year and I know the travel to the metro and long travels to the south has taken it toll. Don't worry we'll have the urgent ones fixed by next month!

On Hunger Games and Wrath of the Titans

Raven and I watched the Hunger Games and Wrath of the Titans on two consecutive weekends.

Hunger Games was a promising movie series. I saw the books in bookstores in Manila and SF and I heard about the movie from two office friends over lunch. I was afraid of Hunger Games-Twilight connection, but I guess its that that cheesy as that of the vampire-werewolf-human-love triangle. I believe I will watch the 2nd installment of the book in cinemas end of 2012.

Wrath of the Titans was a disappointment! I recently watched the Clash of the Titans via cable channel and it was a-OK. But Wrath offers no spectacular scenes or story. Being a bit of a Greek mythology fan, I am frustrated at the flow of the story and at most parts of the movie. Where is the Wrath they are talking about? Wrath of Kronus (he did not even cause that much destruction)? Perseus defeating Ares, the god of war on an armed combat? Zeus and Hades doing the walking and fighting scene? Lame if you will ask me!

RSA and SF

Just got back from SF and RSA. Lots of backlog at work and at home. Some insights about RSA and San Francisco, more vendors attended the expo, the the freebies was quite limited (unlike last year). My favorite bookstore is gone (Borders) and this was my 1st SF trip that I did not got any Warcraft book :(

Palawan Day 02

Happy Valentine's Day to all especially to my Raven!

Finally I have transferred the pics from the camera to the pc, so at least that task is moving.

As a Valentine's gift to Raven, I am posting the highlights of our Palawan Trip - Day 02

Day 02 is the PPUR Tour or Puerto Princesa Underground River Tour.

Our Tour Guide was Nelia and our driver was Macky.
We woke up very early, grabbed our packed breakfast from the hotel and left for Sabang Beach.
We stopped somewhere in the middle of the trip to eat our breakfast.
From Sabang Beach we have the boat ride to the  Puerto Princesa Underground River.
The underground river is really great and it deserves to be in the New Wonders List. Our PPUR boatman-slash-guide is funny too.
Because we were kinda bitin in the Sabang Beach (full story not fit for Chartotem Blog) after returning to the city in the afternoon, we hired a tricycle to go a nearby beach (Pristine Beach)
To wrap up the day, we had a dinner date at KaLui

Palawan Day 01

Raven and I went to Palawan last month. I have not yet sorted all the pics and vids as I am busy with a lot of stuff (official work as well + the extra-curricular).
But since today is our monthsary I am creating this post as a placeholder of the future post about our Palawan Trip.

Palawan and Puerto Princesa Day 01 Highlights:
1. My First Time in the Domestic Terminal :D
2. PPS pala is the airport code for Puerto Princesa City
3. We had our City Tour and our Tour Guide was Nema (she said she was the younger sis of Nemo)

4. Their museum have hologram. Social.
5. Visited the Cathedral
6. Visited the Palawan Massacre memorial
7. Go out of the main city, Raven tried weaving (hahaha)
8. Visited crocodile farm. Realized that it is not appropriate to call politicians and corrupt law enforcers, B-word (It is a dishonor for them to be called names like that). So I decided, from now on I will not call them (Politicians and Corrupt LE's) the B-word.
9. The lovely Binturong (Palawan Bear Cat)
10. Bakers hill and their wonderful goodies (hopia, spanish bread, yema, etc)
11. Dinner at Kinabuchs
Its really more fun in the Philippines :)

2012: Just Say No to Softdrinks

Yehey! Its been 28 days since I'm softdrinks-free! It's a personal decision and I hope it will be better for my health.

I still maintain the 1 per month emergency rule ( in the event that softdrinks are the safer, more economically sound choice)

Hopefully I can keep this up in all the months of 2012. Wish me luck :)

Pacquiao vs Marquez III

It's the time of the year again when majority of Pinoys will be glued to their TV sets (or PC screens) and will be cheering for the "Pambansang Kamao" Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao. Crime rate will be low and there would be no traffic congestion in the streets of the Metro Manila and sometimes you wonder and wish that "Sana araw araw me laban si Pacquiao!"

I wish Pacman all the best in his boxing bout against Marquez. He trained hard for this fight and he is in prime shape. I hope he stays with the fight plan given by Coach Roach. Forget about the politics and other distractions because today is fight night!

Today is a “thank a friend” day for me. But since I have so many friends to thank so thank you friends will be better post title right?

Taipei 2011 Visit

I visited Taipei this week.


Weather was cool but on our last 2 days it started to rain. The hotel is ok, it has the basics (unlike the other Taipei Visits wherein hotels are usually hi-tech) but I am getting used to the spartan life. The good side of it is that the place is quite and peaceful.

Places and food highlights included Din Tai Fung Sogo, Royal Host, Hooters Taipei and Taiwan Beer.

On the work sked, it’s quite tight as I still have meetings on Friday past 7 in the evening. But it was a good visit, keeping in touch with old friends and meeting new ones.

Happy 70th Birthday Mama!!!

Last March 3 was her birthday and we celebrated it with friends, family and other loved ones on Sunday March 6.

I know there are lots of challenges especially on the preps but I’m just so glad that Mama was so happy on that day.

Special thanks and mention to Ate Ciel who spearheaded the preps, To Raven for representing me when I was away in US, to Papa, to all my brothers and sisters, to my nephews and nieces, to my Tito and Tita and to my cousin too, to my extended family, especially to Becks and Eman, and all support staff, and lastly to all the well-wishers, Thank you!

Bad boy me still went to the office even its our special day. I did not go to the office during the post-Christmas and pre-New year period so work stuff piled up for the 1st week of the year and I want to clear it out first.

We did go to a special place that evening. We dined and wined that night!!! The dinner was special one as we don’t usually go to that special steakhouse. And maybe it was made more special because of the red wine! I was uneasy at first sip (I don’t usually mix alcohol and food) but enjoyed sipping the wine at the end.

Honestly I was sad to bring younger Saurfang’s armor back to his dad High Overlord Saurfang in Borean Tundra. But I was surprised that older Saurfang seems to have no emotions (so far), and Orcs valuing to honor above is really admirable (reminded me of Broxigar).

Weekend: Glorietta at Greenbelt

Nakapagbasa ako ng mga lumang post dito sa Chartotem at nabasa ko ang mga dota posts at na miss kong mag-filipino sa blog ?

Dahil summer na summer pa rin sa Maynila e lumabas kame ng bahay kahapon: Raven, Baroye, Magne at Draylee. Medyo kinakabahan ako ng una kase kaka-repair lang ng aircon ni charchar at baka bumigay ito pero OK naman ang byahe. Matagal tagal na rin kameng nde nakakapunta ni Raven sa Makati kaya napag-isipan naming sa Glorietta pumunta. Eto yata ang una kong punta ng Glorietta pagkatapos magkaroon ng explosion incident dati. Madaming nagbago dito sa Ayala, meron na pala Glorietta 5 :)

Kumain kame  sa Sentro 1771 at aliw na aliw si Baroye sa butong pakwan. Ok naman ang pagkain, Fried Kesong Puti for appetizer at Sinigang na Corned Beef at Boneless Crispy Pata ang main dish. Pagkatapos ay nag-Timezone kame. Akala ko si Draylee ang mag-eenjoy sa lakad na ito pero mukhang si Baroye at Magne pag ang mas enjoy sa Timezone. Si Magne excited sa Dance Dance Revolution. Si Baroye naman sa basketball at ninja sword game. Iba na pala ang sistema sa Timezone, wala ng ticket na ilalabas yung machine parang nakastore na lang sa value card. Paperless, Ayus!

Pagkatapos ng TimeZone ay nagpalamig kame sa Fusion, with matching fruit smoothies, potato fries at nachos habang si Draylee ay knock out sa kanyang stroller. Naglibut-libot lang kame ng konti pagkatapos kase si Baroye ay naghahanap ng Neutral Grounds para sa kanyang 10-sided die at sila Magne at Raven naman ay naghahanap ng mga baby stuff ni Draylee. Enjoy kame kahit medyo nakakapagod. Sa uulitin :)

Back in Manila

After one of the most frustrating travel experience I'm back in Manila. And since Chartotem's blog is not the place for rants (I will reserve that to the other blog), I will just post the happy thoughts here (remind me to post the cool mango shake pic)

Manila is hot, scorching hot! So to take the heat off our backs, Raven and I watched Iron Man 2. Yup its already showing in Manila even if some of the officemates told me that it should be May 7 Global Premier. Nice Movie!

We will be off to the malls with Cian Drayleefoo later!!!

First Snow

I had my first snow... Yipeee! It was a chilly Saturday afternoon in Grapevine Texas and it was really a cold night in Arlington Texas. It was a great experience. I'll try to sort out some pics and post here.

Goodluck to Pacman

Today is Pacman's fight with Joshua Clottey. Luckily I'm in the US again so I can watch it at my friends house with fellow pinoy friends. I guess we will have some fun and fiesta time again since some of them love to cook pinoy food when we get together.

Raven, Spiderham, Mama and I went to Bettina Andrea's Christening last week. Its good to meet and catch up with my cousins (Mimie, Gi, We and Mike) and my ninong and ninang. Reception was done at Cabalen and the food was eat all you can. There was this photo booth promo that we last seen at Flyn and Corinne's wedding. Of course we took several shots with Mama tagging along. After the lunch we went to the nearby outlet shops.

For sevad, Sai, Ming and the rest of the pinoy peeps surprised him after the pajama party. Many baloons! Nice!

For Nanay, the whole clan is full force in Laguna. Some co-teachers from old Elem. school attended too. We had burgers, barbeque, pansit, sapin-sapin, pork chop, roast pork, okoy, puto pao and many more. The weekend was a break from the usual 1-cup rice regime of me and Raven.

Flyn and Corinne

Corinne is one of my closest cousin in Papa's side. I remember long long time ago we were sending each other snail-mails (haha low-tech pa) and I keep on getting her name mispelled (hehe madalas intentional yun :D ). We went to the same college and I guess that adds up some bonding time. I also chose her to be one of our Bridesmaid in our wedding.

I'm happy that she's settling down na :)

Taipei

The last Taipei Trip was not "the usual" Taipei trip of mine.
First, its full of alcohol (only 1 day off alcohol). Second, the no-junk food campaign was a success on this trip.Third while in the conference I was trying out some social media stuffs :)

Boxing, Solar Eclipse atbp

I started boxing training this week. I feel great about it. Actually 3 weeks ago I tried it, but it was interrupted by my pharynx infection. So this week the official training starts and I hope this will be a regular activity from now on. For this month my target is 1 training per week. After 1 month I will try to increase this so that I can improve my stamina.

On that same day of boxing training, came another event: the solar eclipse. I have not seen it since its only partial eclipse in manila, but I have watched some of the actions in the net as well as in the television via the evening news.

On the atbp. topic. I'm excited about something. You'll hear more on this topic when I'm ready to share to all.

It was Fun

A senti post for Chartotem’s Blog. We were so excited when we opened CIC. I even blogged it here . It was really fun while it lasted. But we have decided that it must come to an end.

I’m listing some things that I will be missing (or already missing na):

1. The Free DOTA Games. With Raven, Ujinn, Imagina. Sometimes with AlecJonas, Jag, Ron, Mica, Aldrin, Eric and some other TIP boys. Batang Cubao spared some time to do some good games during the last day; I really cherish the game-time folks.
2. The semi-daily/nightly drive to QC Area, from Office or from home. The shortcuts in Tuazon/Project 4 Area. The traffic in Aurora/Anonas intersection. Dropping off Kamote at EDSA.
3. The warm greetings of Liza. She never misses to greet me whenever I arrive there or if she is already leaving after her shift. Thanks Liz! I know our paths will cross again, and we will always be here to help you whenever we can.
4. Weekly PC Scanning and random PC troubleshooting schedules with Kamote. The troubleshooting of minor “infections” is really a thrill. Thanks also to Kamote.
   
5. The Lugaw and Goto from Molave. Great food and very affordable. The tinapay from Julie’s and the kamote fries. Forget about Jollibee, Chowking and Mcdo, that’s very common.
   
6. The parking. Manong Tanda, Gomez and Danny. I’ll visit you some time.
7. I will add other stuff in the future. Too much senti na today :)
   

No Regrets. We will cherish the memories. And will never forget the lessons learned.

Time to move on to the next chapter of our lives.

And lastly, My Thanks to Raven! I love you so much.

Last week I celebrated my birthday!
Raven cooked some spag and succulent rosemary chicken on my day. Yummy! I can't get hold off the pic taken from Raven's new camera. Remind me next time Chartotem and I will update this post with the food image.
Raven, Ujinn, Mama, Kuya Kent, Alecthedrummer visited me. I did not do some massive invites, but anyone who remembered me on my day is very much welcome to my handaan.

The next day, my officemates threw in a surprise. It was a good setup. SJM having a serious convo with me and then they sang happy bday and brought in a cake with a candle.

I will try my best to be kinder to all of you this year :D

Senate Hearing

Do we really need to have all this Senate Hearing on every trivial issues? Oh well, elections are near so I guess media mileage is everything now.
Good thing that there are some interesting scenes in the hearing (read Abner Afuang) Nice water splash there! hehe!

Back in Manila

I'm back in Manila last Saturday. That was one long flight. IAD (Washington Dulles) -> LAX (Los Angeles) -> GUM (Guam) -> MNL (NAIA)

In NAIA Terminal 2 they have some checking for flu-inflicted passengers. I will post some pics of the DOH banner and the DOH flu check form in the future.

Remind me to write on how Asians are so paranoid about the H1N1, the East Coast "impersonal" approach and other wacky adventures there.

To the East Coast

My West Coast tour will end soon. I will have a short stint at the east coast for some trainings. This will be my first time in the east coast, so I'm kinda excited pa. But I miss my Raven and I miss Pinas na.

Hopefully I'll have no issues with the flu thing.

I hope Manny will win. And then the big-mouthed Mayweather Sr. will shut up, and Coach Roach will be vindicated :) Seriously, The Pacman trained hard for this fight, and I hope the Hitman trained hard too. So may the best boxer win na lang!

There is this journalist from Hongkong who recently made some racial slur.

Zohan, Watchmen and Fixing the Master Feeder

My weekend activities:
Saturday.
Just stayed at home and fixed my blog feed. Its my biggest blog booboo to date and I got little time on the weekdays to fix it. I did some trial and error and found some plugins doing the mess.
Watched part of the Zohan movie.

Sunday.
Watched the Zohan movie in the PC. Together with Raven this time. Funny movie. I like it since its Adam Sandler. Unlike Click this one is a lighter mood movie. I just don't like the "buffering" thing of Raven's channel :)

Went out to TriNoma. Had dinner with Raven's friends-previous online officemates at Dencio's. Common topic over the dinner is blogging and SERPs and optimization. Their ex-boss was the pulutan :)

Bought gas stove-burner, the one in the house needs some replacement. Same Brand. Matibay talaga Standard :)

Tried TriNoma cinema 2. Picked Watchmen the movie. The cinema chairs are squeaky :)

Last week, Raven and I went to Mall of Asia to watch what??? Eraserheads Concert 2009 of course.



We parked inside the mall, and behold: SM Mall of Asia have installed a hi-tech infra-red activated parking light indicator. We knew that the concert may take long so we took some snacks at El Pollo Loco (not a good experience). We then went to the concert grounds and met some friends.

Watching the concert is really fun. Sulit na Sulit! It's like we won the Philippine Lotto jackpot prize.

We can't wait for the Concert CD and DVD :) I'll post details on this as soon as I get them!

I'm not a big fan of lotto. My Mama and Papa is :)
The biggest they have won is P500 I think, for getting 4 numbers, hehe!
Me? I think I won 20 pesos for getting 3 numbers in the 6/42 game before.

Last week the jackpot for the Super Lotto is huge! 340 Million Pesos! Wow!
We even tried to buy a ticket but the line is long and we have other urgent things to do that time.

Taipei Travel Part 2

Day 3
Tuesday. Off-topic for chartotem.
We walked from the office to the hotel (around 15~20minutes) looking for a place to eat. The dinner is quite good. White Sugarcane Shabu Shabu.

My boss (or my mentor, she don't want to be called boss) ordered beer with the shabu-shabu. I guess this week-long meeting is taking its toll on us, so we need to unwind and have some bottle of beer.

Day 4
This is food-trip day. After some meetings in the morning, we had a nice team lunch out at a barbeque place. Yup! barbeque all you can cook and eat.

Taipei Adventures

Day 1
Feb. 8. Andami palang tao sa NAIA Terminal 2 kapag Linggo. Sabi sa akin ng mga ground attendants ganito daw palagi pag Linggo kase maraming flights na papaalis. Me papunta Taiwan, China, Japan at kung saan saan pa. Lalo na daw sa Terminal 1, mas magulo at maraming tao pag Linggo.

Nag-stay rin ako sa Mabuhay Lounge. Syempre sulit-sulitin ang Mabuhay Miles Elite status, mag expire na ito this month. Na-delay yung dating nung eroplano so eto nagwireless sa lounge. Pa-twitter twitter, pasurf-surf, parang totoong blogger na ako. Hahaha!

Dumating sa Taipei, ok naman nde masyado malamig.

Ayos ang mga police patrol sa Taipei. Bimmer at Chedeng :) Anong sinabi ng Toyota Hilux ng San Juan!

Naghanap ng makakainan, ayun me Mo's Burger, kumain na kame dito ng mga kaopisina dati so ok na dito.

Day 2
Sabi ng ka-opisina ko Traditional Holiday daw ngayon dito pero me pasok sa opisina. Ang cute ng mga dekorasyon nila, me mga lanterns pa. Akala ko extension lang ito ng Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration. Hindi pala. Totoong Chinese Lantern Festival talaga. Pati yung google nila iba rin ang display image. Teka post ko dito pag nakuha ko na picture sa camera ko.

Umuwi ako mag-isa sa hotel. Patalo yung unang taxi na pinara ko, hindi marunong mag-english. Kahit kase meron na akong papel na me naka-print na pangalan ng hotel at address ng hotel (both english at chinese) eh ayaw pa rin. Sabi sa akin "Sorry No English". Mabuti na lang mabait yung pangalawang taxi driver.

Mike and Dona

Congratulations and Best Wishes to Mike and Dona. They tied the knot last Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Tagaytay. Mama was a proxy Ninang (in behalf of my Aunt in the US). It was nice to see my cousins (especially Aque with his panganay) again.
